The Regatta of Historical Vessels

The Association of “Batana House,” in cooperation with the Nautical Club “Maestral Ronhill,” staged the fourth regatta of vessels with the square and Latin sails and other traditional ships, which saw the participation of 31 historical vessels from Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, most so far.

PHOTODAYS IN ROVINJ CLOSED BY AWARDING PRESTIGIOUS PRIZES

Among thirty six finalists in 12 categories, the international jury announced the best ones during the second, and last, day of Photodays – photography festival.

PHOTODAYS PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL OPENED Rovinj a two-day centre of the world of the art of photography

The second Photodays Photography Festival is ongoing in Rovinj, the manifestation including national, professional and contestant participants of the Croatian photography community, with awards given to authors of the best achievements created during the past year, in several photographic categories.

ROVINJ HOSTED THE 10TH INTERNATIONAL FREE DIVING COMPETITION

Perhaps by far the most important event of this year’s 10th in a row International Free Diving Competition was the coming of one of the greatest world divers of all time, Umberto Pelizzaro, who is a multiple world champion in free diving.

THIRD ROVINJ DELICATESSEN FESTIVAL HELD

Together with its partners, the Tourist Board have for the third year in succession organised the one-day Festival of Rovinj Delicatessen.

25th INTERNATIONAL SAILING REGATTA ROVINJ - PESARO - ROVINJ

The largest trans-Adriatic regatta “The Route of Coasters,” held for the first time in 1985, did not stop even during the Homeland War, nor when the cloud of Chernobyl wafted over the Adriatic. Skippers did not even mind snowflakes the size of a walnut which surprised sailboats in the middle of the Adriatic in May 1987.

THREE DAY ‘POPOLANA’ ENDED - MORE THAN 200 RUNNERS PARTICIPATED

The third and final day of the ‘Popolana’ was marked by the 5th Rovinj half marathon. At the starting line of this 22 kilometre race there were 139 runners from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, USA, Moldavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

POPOLANA With Sport from Streets and Squares to Nature and Tourism

This year's ‘Popolana’, the sports-humanitarian event with its spirit expressed in the motto ‘With Sport from Streets and Squares to Nature and Tourism’, was held in the name of a 99 km long ultra marathon, which was, in the company of Lenart Oblak and numerous friends, run by Mirjana Kmačić Pellizzer.

SUCCESSFUL FIRST DAY OF THE ‘POPOLANA’ - A THREE DAY SPORTS-RECREATIONAL EVENT

The third sports-recreational event organized by the City of Rovinj, Sports Union, Tourist Association and Maistra, the popular ‘Popolana’, attracted a large crowd.

EASTER CONCERT AT THE FRANCISCAN MONASTERY Gandusiana welcomed Livio Minafra

The City of Rovinj, the traditional host of Easter concerts, welcomed the young Italian pianist Livio Minafra, the author of three jazz albums and the winner of the Top jazz 2008 prize that is granted to young talents by Musica Jazz magazine.

TOURIST BOARD WISHES A HOLIDAYS BY EASTER BREAKFAST

The town tourist board, in cooperation with Spacia Grota and Eugen Kumičić Vocational School, organized an outdoor Easter breakfast in Valdibora for the first time.

TOURIST BOARD EMPLOYEES GIVE EASTER PRESENTS TO THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS - FRUIT TREES GONE IN A SECOND

After the Rovinj Tourist Board employees distributed two thousand perennials and spring flowers to their fellow citizens on the first Saturday in April, they traditionally distributed fruit trees on Saturday before Easter Monday.

For the Easter holiday, there will be a programme organised in the city for citizens and guests as follows:

April 11, 2009 (Saturday)
10 AM – traditional distribution of 500 small trees of jujube, fig, raspberry,
blackberry, currant, and gooseberry to citizens of Rovinj in front of the
office of the Tourist Association of Rovinj within the environment action
“Istria - Clean As Can Be”
10 AM – entertainment programme with the “Eligio and Boris” duo in front of hotel Adriatic

With the giving out of perennials and seasonal flowers, the Tourist Association of Rovinj delighted the citizens for the seventh year in a row

For the seventh year in a row, the Tourist Association of Rovinj, for the forthcoming Easter holiday, is encouraging its citizens to enrich and decorate their gardens and balconies by planting seasonal flowers and perennials that it gives out.
